Leh – Hall of Fame & War Memorial, local market, Fort/Palace, Shanti Stupa
Visit Alchi Monastery – A 11th century monastic complex in which artistic and spiritual details of both Buddhism and the Hindu kings of that time in Kashmir are reflected in the wall paintings of the monastery. It’s a great place to shop for Tibetan handicrafts, jewelery items, artifacts and idols of Buddha and several other Gods and Goddesses.
Tibetan Medicine Practitioner (Amchi) – visit the home of a local medicine man & sample local cuisine, get a peek into life in the village. Get to eat apricots and other fruit from their orchard. Get to hear stories of the land and go for a herbs and medicinal plant walk in the rocky mountains around. **An alternate local personality visit / experience will be arranged if this is not possible on our dates
Phugtal Monastery a 2500yrs old monastery in Zanskar – reachable only by a multi-day trek until 2019, it is located in one of the remotest regions of Ladakh& Zanskar. We take a short one way trek of 1.5hrs to reach this ancient monastery which is ensconsed
Zanskar & Suru Valleys – Gumri Glacier, Nun-Kun Peaks, Drang Drung Glacier, Karsha Monastery – every one of these will blow your mind
Kargil War Memorial in Drass to pay our respects to the martyred soldiers who died while recapturing Indian territory from the Pakis. Drass is one of the coldest continuously inhabited places on earth with temperature having dipped to -60 Deg C in 1995)
LOC Village & Museum in Kargil – this is a remarkable settlement where you will find the doors to the Museum of Memories housing so many artefacts and memories. From decades old-coins to fragments of wars back then, this museum takes you on a journey to people’s life back then. It transports you to a time in the past with all its belongings such as documents, letters, tools, utensils, and a lot more. The village came under Pakistan between the time period of 1949 and the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War, according to the People’s Archive of Rural India by Stanzin Saldon. Post-1965 war, the village was not a part of any of the neighbouring countries; neither India nor Pakistan. After the 1971 war, the village became a part of India.
Gagangir & Sonamarg – stay on a beautiful farm stay run by a French-Kashmiri couple, visit fabulous locales, dream landscapes, go for a pony trek for a close up glimpse of the Thejwas Glacier as you ride across heavenly meadows of Kashmir.
Gurez Valley – a remote and lesser explored region of Kashmir. Steeped in history, Gurez Valley was once part of the old Silk Route connecting South and Central Asia. The magnificence of Gurez Valley lies in its breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. Encircled by towering peaks such as Habba Khatoon Peak and Pyramid Peak, this valley offers panoramic vistas. You will get to
